-Before French rule the Ivory Coast was a part of Gyaaman, the Kong Empire, and Baole.
-It became a protectorate of France in 1843 and a colony in 1893
-The Ivory Coast gained its independence on 7 August 1960, and from 1960 to 1993, it was led by Félix Houphouët-Boigny.
-There have been two coups and a civil since the end of Houphouët-Boigny's rule, it seems as though the country is moving toward peace.
